The Very First Lean Startup Workshop in Malaysia

It has been definitely more than 2 years where Eric Ries came up with the term of lean startup in September 2008 and finally to my knowledge, this is the very first lean startup event in Malaysia. (I’ e been monitoring the web start up scene a fair bit as it is a personal interest of mine to raise the level of the ecosystem). This small workshop is organized by the Technopreneurs’ Association Malaysia (TeAM), which most members are more “traditional technology entrepreneurs”. (disclosure, I am an exco member of this association).

Most startup will fail and for very bad reasons such as premature launch, choking from too much funding etc . The lean startup is the idea that a startup is not a small business but a human institution to push new ideas under great uncertainty. It looks at entrepreneurship as a management science. All startups starts with bad ideas and it is the successful ones that find ways to pivot themselves into a great idea.

According to wikipedia, “Lean Startup is a set of processes used by entrepreneurs to develop products and markets, combining Agile Software Development, Customer Development and existing software platforms”

This workshop will explore how does you as an entrepreneur validate and pivot your idea to become something that stands a higher chance of being successful.

The speaker is Tzu Ming is a Director at Persuasion Technologies Sdn Bhd, and has been building Internet businesses for the past 10 years in the Internet, mobile and technology sectors. Prior to this, he was a partner and CEO of a regional based Venture Capital firm where he invested, restructured and took public many high growth companies including one of Asia’s leading Online Advertising networks on the London Stock Exchange.
